Consultant will provide professional development on the topics of literacy curriculum and instruction, children’s literature, and writing as educators.

Target Audience

Educational and school leaders, school librarians, curriculum and instruction leaders, literacy instructors, pre-service teachers, and parents.

Anticipated Outcomes

1. Participants will gain an understanding of the importance of using quality multicultural literature for children in modern classrooms;
2. Participants will explore cultural identities and learn ways to understand the lives and social times of students as well as teachers they work alongside;
3. Participants will learn how to identify, select, and evaluate quality literature for children;
4. Participants will create multicultural children’s literature canon to use in the classroom or school library.
