Creative Writer

Ebony is an award-winning writer of books for children, young adults, and adults. Her stories aim to highlight muted voices.

Her most recent book, Zora, the Story Keeper (Kokila) received a starred review and was called, “Powerfully Immersive.” Ebony has published books with major publishing houses like Scholastic, Penguin Random House, Pearson, DK Kids, and tech companies like IStation.

Starred Review of Zora, the Story Keeper

This deeply moving tale of family history and connections, loss, memory, and legacy offers a beautiful way to talk to children about the contributions people make during their time on this Earth and is a striking representation of a Black family full of ordinary and outstanding people. Every word of Wilkins’ text is well chosen, and Coulter’s stunning, emotional art, a unique combination of photographs and mixed media, is a memorable visual depiction of a range of tender moments.” (Kirkus)

“ZORA, THE STORY KEEPER is one of only 7 titles at Penguin Young Readers across age categories to appear on five or more 2023 Best Books lists. Congratulations!" ~ Joanna Cardenas, Kokila
